Todd Wilken Is "Dare I Say...En Fuego!"
Issues, Etc. is now officially back on the airwaves and y'all need to get over to www.issuesetc.org and give it a listen. You can listen live from 3-5 p.m. Central Time on weekdays, you can download the files to your computer, or you can subscribe to the podcast using iTunes. Any of these means will provide your ears with the wonderful words of the Gospel.
IE isn't the only radio program to undergo an overhaul. I used to listen occasionally to Dan Patrick when he was on ESPN Radio. Several months ago, Patrick left the big company (ESPN) and, much like Todd and Jeff with IE, has come back with a new show. I see a similarity between the two shows. Neither host spends their time ranting and raving about their former employer. And yet the fact that both are in a sense "unshackled" gives the show a sense of freedom that had been lacking. I've heard Dan Patrick mention ESPN and talk honestly about it...but I've yet to hear him make this his "M.O." Todd and Jeff did the same thing in the first week of IE. They talked about the LCMS...but they simply answered questions honestly and without an agenda.
I heard Todd say last week on the show that they would receive criticisms that Issues, Etc. always talked about other denominations, but never gave full disclosure about their own denomination. I would argue that IE's very existence dealt with issues that challenge the LCMS...pop evangelicalism...worship styles...sexuality...the political arena...life issues...service of women in the church...the focus of preaching. Ultimately, many believe that IE was axed because it became too critical of the Synod...and did so without ever really mentioning the Synod.
