I Have a Dell...

...and that means I'm no longer a Mac user.

I posted last week about the unfortunate glass of water that tipped over on my iBook G4. After investigating about the potential damage that was likely to have caused, even if everything seemed to be working okay, I decided the cost of repair on a three-year old laptop was not worth it.

So--not wanting to spend the multi-million dollars it would cost for a new Mac, I went for a Dell Inspiron 1525 at Best Buy. It's on the lower end of cost, since I'm not looking to produce blockbuster movies or cut a rap album. Word processing, internet, and Bible software are my primary uses.

So far, after about nine days with my new Dell, I'm easing back into PC mode. Vista is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I've not tried Leopard on the Mac, but the user interface of Vista is much nicer than Tiger.

Here's my synopsis of why Vista bombed out of the gate. Most Mac users are already computer savvy people. Very few people start out with a Mac...they usually make the switch somewhere along the way, or they were exposed to them in school. Most casual, novice computer users use PCs. I'm sure the smallest switches from XP to Vista just blew their minds. I actually think Vista's quite nice.
