"Idol" Shouts to the Lord

I haven't been overly interested in "American Idol" this season (I'm into "The Biggest Loser" right now). But this certainly caught my eye.

The final performance by the Top 8 finalists was a rendition of the popular praise anthem, "Shout to the Lord." I don't know how to feel about it. Yes, it mentions the name 'Jesus.' Other than that, it's your typical, generic contemporary Christian song.

Should I have expected "The Church's One Foundation?" Am I bummed because it wasn't a Paul Gerhardt hymn? I just don't know...I guess I hardly regard "Shout to the Lord" as a winning shot for Christianity in the midst of the pop culture.

UPDATE: It wasn't until I actually played the video embedded in this post that I noticed it...they don't use the name Jesus! They substitute "Shepherd." Talk about being ashamed of the name of our Lord! How pathetic!
